PENANG, 27 July 2026 – RM 21 million of franchise financing was delivered to 69 Bumiputera franchise entrepreneurs during Bizfrancais 2026, organised by Perbadanan Nasional Berhad (Pernas) in conjunction with the Penang International Halal Expo (PIHEX) 2026.
The financing initiative underscores Pernas' continued commitment to strengthening Malaysia's franchise ecosystem by expanding access to financing for Bumiputera entrepreneurs. It is aimed at helping entrepreneurs establish, grow and scale sustainable franchise businesses while increasing Bumiputera participation and equity ownership in the franchise industry.
The financing, ranging from RM40,000 to RM1 million per recipient, will enable 69 Bumiputera franchise entrepreneurs to expand their businesses across the northern region of Peninsular Malaysia, covering Penang, Kedah, Perlis and Perak.
Held from 24 to 26 July 2026, BizFrancais 2026 brings together 25 franchise brands under the guidance of Pernas. Participating brands include Bonda Learning Centre, Bateriku, City Coin Laundry, Genius Aulad, Yumi Food and XG Coating.
By taking place alongside PIHEX 2026, which features more than 200 exhibitors from across the halal industry, BizFrancais 2026 creates a strategic platform that connects Malaysia's franchise and halal ecosystems. The collaboration is expected to enhance entrepreneurs' competitiveness, foster stronger industry collaboration and unlock new opportunities for business growth and market expansion.
Chief Executive Officer of Perbadanan Nasional Berhad, Datuk Nor Azam M. Taib, said Pernas remains committed to developing competitive and resilient Bumiputera franchise entrepreneurs through comprehensive financing, capacity-building initiatives and business development support.
"In 2025, Pernas disbursed RM16.28 million in financing to Bumiputera franchise entrepreneurs. For 2026, we aim to support 150 entrepreneurs with an estimated total financing of RM41 million. This target reflects our continued commitment to nurturing more competitive and resilient Bumiputera franchise entrepreneurs who are well-positioned to grow and scale their businesses," he said.
Beyond financing, BizFrancais 2026 serves as a comprehensive entrepreneur development platform by offering business advisory services, franchise development programmes, entrepreneurship training and networking opportunities with industry players. Visitors can also explore franchise opportunities across various sectors, including food and beverage, education, healthcare, beauty, services and technology.
As part of its ongoing efforts to expand the franchise ecosystem nationwide, Pernas will continue the BizFrancais series in several strategic locations, including Sabah and Sarawak, in September 2026. The initiative aims to provide more aspiring entrepreneurs with access to financing, capacity-building programmes and opportunities to grow their businesses through the franchise business model.
