Few leaders have shaped Malaysia’s financial landscape as profoundly as Dato’ Shamsuddin Mohd Mahayidin. With over three decades at Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM), he played a pivotal role in institutional reform, financial market development, and strategic governance.

He holds an MBA from Manchester Business School, UK. At BNM, he served in senior roles including Director of International Department and Chief Service Officer of Centralised Shared Services. He oversaw operations spanning procurement, facility management, and corporate administration; ensuring alignment with strict governance and risk management frameworks.
His tenure was marked by strengthened compliance systems and cultural transformation initiatives that elevated organisational resilience; an approach that mirrors Pernas’ commitment to nurturing disciplined, growth-ready enterprises.

Beyond core operations, Dato’ Shamsuddin led critical contributions to national financial legislation. He oversaw provisions related to international matters during the review of the Central Bank of Malaysia Act, and was involved in formulating the Financial Services Act 2013 and Islamic Financial Services Act 2013. He also served on influential committees, including the Financial Stability Working Group (2011 - 2016), Monetary Policy Working Group (2011 - 2016), and Crisis Management Team (2018 - March 2023).

With a deep understanding of regulatory architecture and reforms, he strengthens the Board’s capacity to guide businesses towards stronger operational foundations, sustainable growth models, and national economic alignment.
