Perbadanan Nasional Bhd (Pernas) has continued its initiative to empower entrepreneurs in the East Coast region through the Terengganu BizFrancais Programme 2022, with a potential funding target of RM4 million.
Acting chief executive officer Mazlan Ibrahim said the programme that took place on Sunday (Oct 16) marked the third BizFrancais Programme to be held this year, after it was held in Penang (June 12) and Melaka (Oct 18).
The programme will be held in Perak and Sarawak in November and December, respectively, this year.
“The Terengganu BizFrancais programme involved 11 exhibitors, including six franchisors, namely Marrybrown, Gpharmax, Dapur Mama, Akie Burger, Smart Reader, and NorraRich, where they showcased and promoted their business models to participants through business pitching session.
“BizFrancais Terengganu 2022 succeeded in attracting interest from more than 100 participants.
“The one-day programme featured presentations from Pernas; a forum for success stories among entrepreneurs; business pitching; and business clinic sessions,” he said in a statement today.
He said Pernas has also set an aim to empower economic growth through creation of more job and entrepreneurship opportunities, mainly in the franchise field.
Mazlan said since its introduction in 2019, Pernas has organised 13 series of BizFrancais programme, including in Penang, Kuala Lumpur, Kelantan, Langkawi, Johor, Sabah and Sarawak.
He said that Pernas recorded potential funding application totalling RM13 million when the programme was held in Penang and Melaka recently.
“This programme is part of Pernas’ efforts to promote franchise business comprehensively, with cooperation from the state governments, entrepreneur associations, non-governmental organisations, government agencies and local authorities in each state targeted.
“I hope that all participants can benefit from the BizFrancais event, and Pernas believes that the programme, which covers all business aspects from funding to business registration procedures, is able to cater to all inquiries and concerns from participants regarding franchise business,” he said.
Established in 1969, Pernas is an investment holding company owned by the Minister of Finance (Incorporated), under the supervision of the Ministry of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives.
